Commuters are expected to face more delays to begin July as the LIRR is canceling or diverting more than a dozen rush hour trains.

To help accommodate riders, five trains are being added to both peak periods, with some trains having additional cars. 

That's not good enough for some riders.

"I think it's ridiculous," said Dakota Grant of Oyster Bay. "I think some people know there are certain train rides and when things start changing like this it really throws things off so they really need to think about other people before they just start changing things."

LIRR officials are suggesting that riders avoid Penn Station and go to Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn this summer, but riders like Chrissy Mefi of North Babylon say that's just "really inconvenient."

Others believe the inconvenience is necessary as improvements are made at Penn Station.

The new summer timetables are expected to last through August 30.

Railroad officials suggest taking the train at the start or end of peaks hours to avoid crowds and get a seat.
