LIPA: Underground outage causes thousands of power failures

LONG BEACH - More than 3,000 lost power today in Long Beach.

LIPA officials say an underground outage occurred this morning between Roosevelt and Maple bouelvards, knocking out power to around 3,200 customers. Of those customers, 2,800 had their power restored within an hour.

As of 7 p.m., all power had been restored, according to LIPA's website.
