LI priest steps aside amid allegations of sex abuse
A Long Island Roman Catholic priest has stepped aside amid allegations of sexual abuse.
Msgr. William Breslawski, who served as pastor of Our Lady of Peace in Lynbook, has been accused of sexual abuse.
The Diocese of Rockville Centre says Father Breslawski is accused of sexually abusing a middle schooler nearly 40 years ago, and had "an inappropriate interaction” with two adults in the 1980s.
Breslawski agreed to step aside while the diocese investigates those allegations.
Breslawski served at least a handful of churches across Long Island since he was ordained as priest since 1979.
He also served at the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in Rocky Point; the Church of the Holy Cross in Nesconset; the Church of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help in Lindenhurst; and the Church of Saint Catherine of Sienna in Franklin Square.
The Diocese of Rockville Centre sent News 12 a statement saying in part, “We are saddened by these allegations, and we will do everything we can to ensure that a fair and just determination is made."
