LI nurses object to mandated swine flu vaccine
Several nurses at Stony Brook University Medical Center say they?re worried they could lose their jobs if they refuse to get vaccinated for swine flu, as is mandated by the state.
Registered Nurse Tara Accavallo says she and her colleagues aren?t convinced the vaccine is safe and feel it was rushed into production.
Stony Brook University Medical Center says it may have to take action against employees who don?t get the vaccine.
"We cannot force employees to be vaccinated; however the decision is theirs, and we do not have an infinite number of non-patient care positions available to reassign those who refuse,? the hospital said in a statement.
