Long Island firefighters are making sure that wounded veterans know their service is remembered.About 30 fire departments on the Island took part in the Wounded Warrior project, gathering gifts for those wounded in action.A U-Haul truck filled with gifts left around 6 a.m. for its trip to the nation's capital. The gifts include iPods, clothes and toiletries. Trucks left earlier this week for stops at Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Wounded Warrior Project
