LI firefighter who saved driver from fiery accident named Firefighter of the Year

A firefighter from Long Island has just been named Firefighter of the Year.

A firefighter from Long Island has just been named Firefighter of the Year.
Jason Bernfeld is a 16-year veteran of the Melville Volunteer Fire Department.
The Firemen's Association of New York is recognizing Bernfeld for saving a driver from a fiery car that overturned on the Northern State Parkway last year.

In addition to volunteering as a firefighter, Bernfeld also works for the NYPD's Mounted Unit.
