A Massapequa Park family held a lemonade stand on July 4 to help raise money for the family of fallen NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller.

This is the third year the Montalvo family has held the stand, which they call Liberty Lemonade. They raised money for the Wounded Warrior Project in 2023.

Diller, who was killed in the line of duty in March, also resided in the area of Massapequa Park.

“He is our local hero, and we are just trying to get people to join us, to stop by, donate and be part of the cause,” said Ernesto Montalvo.

“We wanted to teach our kids about entrepreneurism but also help them understand the inherent value of altruism and giving back to the community,” said Kimberly Sloan-Montalvo.

The family says they raised over $750 through the lemonade stand.
