Jury set to decide fate of man accused of killing LI banker
The jury is set to begin deliberations in the trial of a man accused of posing as a cop and killing a Garden City South banker.
Jury members heard two hours of closing arguments Monday and will now decide the fate of Reginald Gousse. Prosecutors say Gousse pulled over HSBC bank manager James Gottlieb in Franklin Square on January 5, 2005 in an SUV rigged with police lights and a siren. Authorities say Gousse demanded the keys to the bank, then shot and killed Gottlieb when he refused.
Gousse is charged with first and second degree murder, along with attempted robbery and criminal impersonation. The jury will reconvene Tuesday morning.
