Firefighter accused of posing as teen to solicit explicit videos from girlsA firefighter and physician’s assistant in Orange County was arrested and accused of posing as an underage teen to solicit explicit video and pictures from 13-year-old girls. Jonathan Weiss, 29, is a volunteer at his neighborhood firehouse in Wallkill and a physician’s assistant at Orange Regional Medical Center. According to a federal indictment obtained by News12, Weiss lived a double life – posing as a teenager using an alias on Snapchat and luring at least three 13-year-old girls into sending explicit photos and videos to him up until this past May.
Prosecutor's office: 19-year-old charged with murder after body of 51-year old woman found in NJ parkThe Bergen County Prosecutor's Office has announced a 19-year-old male has been charged with murder after a 51-year old woman's body was found at Overpeck County Park in Teaneck. The body was found Monday around 2 a.m. According to the prosecutor's office, Nicolas Coirazza, of Lodi, is charged in connection to the death of Divna Rosasco. Prosecutors say Rosasco was stabbed to death in her home in Cresskill. Coirazza, and a 14-year-old juvenile, who is also charged, are then accused of moving the victim's body from her home to the park.
Nassau Coliseum to be shuttered indefinitely, Bloomberg reportsThe Nassau Coliseum will not reopen, according to a Bloomberg News report. Bloomberg News says that billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov's company, Onexim, which operates the Uniondale arena, plans to shutter it indefinitely.Onexim is said to be seeking investors to take over operations and pick up the remaining $100 million debt on the building.
CT Police Chiefs Association delay acquisition of surplus military equipment for 90 days: Connecticut's Police Chiefs Association announced it is delaying the acquisition of surplus military equipment for 90 days in Connecticut. The Police Chiefs Association represents over 100 municipal and university police chiefs that has lead over 8,500 municipal police officers in Connecticut. They have agreed to a 90-day moratorium on the acquisition of surplus military equipment.
Grandson remembers grandfather Medgar Evers more than 5 decades after his assassination: The grandson of civil rights icon Medgar Evers says his grandfather would be proud to see thousands protesting against racial injustice. Daniel Evers Everette never had the chance to meet his grandfather, but says he was a "warrior and a strong leader."Medgar Evers was assassinated on June 12, 1963, and his grandson says it's painful to continue seeing African Americans' lives being cut short in 2020.
