Search warrants in the case of a missing New Canaan mother of five will remain sealed for the time being, a judge ordered.
Police say they have received more than 1,200 tips involving the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos. Many of those tips led to search warrants.
A judge has now ordered all search warrants executed during the investigation to be sealed for 90 days. It follows a request from the state's attorney Rich Colangelo who wrote, "There is information contained in the search warrant affidavits that is not known to the general public and any potential suspects, the disclosure of which would jeopardize the investigation and chances of successfully solving any crimes involved."
Jennifer Dulos disappeared on May 24 and was last seen dropping her kids off at school.
Police arrested her estranged husband Fotis Dulos and his girlfriend Michelle Troconis in connection to the case. Both are charged with evidence tampering and hindering prosecution.
Police say the two appeared to be caught by security cameras in Hartford throwing out garbage bags that contained items with Jennifer's blood.
Former prosecutor Kevin Black says sealing the warrants is standard in a case like this.
"We know that the charges that have been brought at this point are not the ultimate charges that the state is seeking to lodge," Black said.
The search to find Jennifer has led police to several locations including her New Canaan home, the home she used to share with Dulos in Farmington, several properties owned by his real estate company, and a lengthy search at a Hartford trash plant.
The judge agreed to the sealing order on June 18. The state's attorney can request an extension before the 90-day deadline is up.
