A judge denied bail Thursday for one of the six defendants in the murder case of Bronx teen Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz.
Gabriel Ramirez-Concepcion is charged with second-degree murder in the 2018 gang stabbing death of Guzman-Feliz.
His lawyer asked the judge to consider bail in the "spirit of the new law."
New bail reforms do not apply to homicide cases, but Ramirez-Concepcion's lawyer says his client is a "low-level participant" with "good family roots." The judge denied the request.
Prosecutors say Ramirez-Concepcion drove a getaway car on the night of the murder. Luis Cabrera Santos is another alleged getaway driver, who also appeared in court Thursday.
Danel Fernandez, who was caught on camera with a knife in hand, also appeared in court.
The rest of the defendants set to appear in court waived their appearances on Thursday.
The alleged Trinitarios are accused of chasing Junior before he was stabbed to death by five gang members, who have already been convicted in what prosecutors say was a case of mistaken identity.
As for the men currently on trial, their case was adjourned until March 18. This is when the judge hopes to pick a trial date.
