Some streets in South Shore communities were like rivers Wednesday after Jose brought strong wind and rain to Long Island. 

News 12 Long Island reporter Kevin Vesey was on South Fifth Street in Lindenhurst where the street was covered by 6 inches of water. 

Residents in the area told News 12 that the flooding is just a way of life in the community. Most residents parked their cars at higher ground in order to avoid damage.  

The storm also brought flooding to Jones Beach, which was closed all day Wednesday. Parking lots and some buildings were underwater, including part of the iconic Jones Beach Theater.

"There is water throughout the beachfront from Field 6 going all the way west to Field 1," said George Gorman, of Long Island State Parks. "We haven't seen this for many, many years."

It's not yet clear when Jones Beach will reopen but a state parks spokesperson says this weekend's concerts will go on as planned.
