WANTAGH - A benevolent Wantagh man was on the receiving end today of a generous donation aimed at helping sick children.

Representatives from Northwestern Mutual Financial Network gave $50,000 to the John Theissen's Children Foundation; a nonprofit that provides hospitals and child care facilities with recreational equipment while supporting families with medical costs.

Theissen, who is battling a brain tumor himself, usually collects up to 70,000 toys and distributes them to 120 families. However, a recent flood destroyed much of his inventory.

The foundation was selected from about 12 charities.
