A Jet.com warehouse is set to open this fall in Soundview and is expected to bring same-day delivery service to the Bronx.

The e-commerce company, which is a subsidiary of Walmart, will occupy a 200,000-square-foot warehouse at 1055 Bronx River Ave., right off the Bruckner Expressway.

According to real estate news provider The Real Deal, there's been an increase in demand for warehouse space in New York City due to the rise of online shopping.

Jet says the new center will provide Bronx residents with job opportunities. Some, however, were skeptical of the company’s presence, saying it wouldn't be in service of the community. Another said the warehouse should have went to a production company. But some did say they're glad to see new businesses setting up shop in the neighborhood.

News 12 reached out to Community Board 9 to find out if it had any concerns over the new warehouse opening. It says it hasn't had any formal conversations with Jet about potential impacts on the neighborhood.
