One of the busiest streets in Stamford is receiving a much needed makeover.
City officials gathered at the intersection of Henry and Atlantic streets for a groundbreaking ceremony.
The city will begin a project to improve and realign the intersection.
Improvements include new traffic signals, a new left turn lane and a new pedestrian handicap ramp.
The goal of the project is to overall improve traffic downtown and in the city's South End.
“Improving the whole quality of it for the pedestrians and the people that are motorists throughout the south end its going to greatly enhance this east west connection on Henry Street,” says Louis Casolo, city of Stamford engineer.
Stamford also plans on starting four other road improvement projects beginning later this fall.
