Hudson County will soon open its first drive-through coronavirus testing site for county residents.
The site will open Tuesday at Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus. Limited testing has been done there for the past week. The number of confirmed cases of the virus have risen sharply to 190 as of Monday.
The testing will be for Hudson County residents and first responders. ID will be required.
“No one will be allowed in the line without an appointed time,” says Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise.
Residents must make an appointment after being screened over the phone for symptoms.
“If you have a cough or shortness of breath accompanied by a fewer, here’s a number you should call: 201-388-1079,” DeGise says.
Hospital CEO Dr. Nizar Kifaieh says that patients will be taken into the hospital to an isolated area to decrease the risk of exposure.

“You stay in your car so you don’t have to park your car at all,” he says. “The staff upstairs, wearing full protective gear, will come up to the care, make sure they confirm your identity and they’ll provide the test.”
About 200 tests will be performed a day from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. But officials stress that those who do not have symptoms should not show up.
