The holiday shopping season is officially underway, and more than 500 people lined up outside the Kohl's on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk before the doors opened Thursday at 5 p.m. for their pre-Black Friday door busters.
Shoppers said they were hoping to take advantage of the sales on a variety of items.
People also camped out in front of the Best Buy in Norwalk Thursday for Thanksgiving specials ahead of the store's 5 p.m. opening.
Some of the area’s malls are open right now, including Connecticut Post Mall in Milford, where shoppers can take photos with Santa in Center Court!
Danbury Fair Mall has similar hours for today and by popular demand, the Shopper Shuttle is back to help shoppers get around.
At Westfield, some select stores stayed open overnight, while the rest of the mall re-opened at 6 a.m.
Stamford Town Center opens at 8 a.m.
The National Retail Federation expects retail sales, this year through December, to hit about $682 billion, which is up 4 percent from last year.
