Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday visited the Forest Houses in Morrisania and said the New York City Housing Authority is "incompetent" when it comes to making necessary repairs.
He toured the homes of tenants dealing with issues such as mold, rodents, crumbling walls and a lack of heat and hot water.
"Any New Yorker who walked through those units that I have seen would be similarly disgusted," Cuomo said.
The governor pledged that he will not sign the state budget unless it includes change for NYCHA residents. Tenants say they're fed up with conditions they call downright dangerous.
In an effort to improve customer service and be more transparent, NYCHA is launching new digital tools to allow tenants to track housing issues and repairs in real time.
