GOP candidate Carly Fiorina surges in poll
If the latest poll is any indication, quite a few people watched Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina in last week's GOP debate, and they liked what they saw.
A new CNN/ORC poll shows Fiorina is surging. She's now in second place with 15 percent support, up from just 3 percent earlier this month. Donald Trump remains the front runner at 24 percent, but that number is down from 32 percent earlier in September.
Dr. Ben Carson slipped from second to third place. The results came in before the retired neurosurgeon made a controversial remark on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday morning saying he didn't believe that a Muslim should be elected president.
On the Democratic side, NBC News reported that Vice President Joe Biden's wife, Jill, is supportive of a presidential run. Biden is considering jumping into the fray, but has yet to make a decision.
After a rough summer, Hillary Clinton is hoping for a better fall, even as Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders continues to energize voters on the left.
An endorsement from progressive New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio could help in that regard, but the mayor said on ABC's "This Week" that he isn't ready to throw his support behind Hillary just yet.
De Blasio also said that he does not believe that Vice President Biden should jump into the race. "I think with the candidates we have, we'll do very well," he said.
