A Glen Cove teacher received a surprise honor Wednesday in front of the entire student body.
Honors English teacher Lauren Jensen received the Milken Educator Award, along with $25,000.
According to its website, the award targets early to mid-career education professionals for their achievements and for the promise of what they will accomplish in the future.
The prestigious Milken Foundation works in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Education to select its candidates for the award.
Jenson has not yet decided what she will do with the $25,000.
