An alleged lesson on former slaves has led to an investigation in Freeport schools.
A social media post claimed that a teacher at J.W. Dodd Middle School asked students to create "funny" captions for reconstruction-era photographs.
Freeport's Superintendent says, "I have directed that an investigation of these claims be immediately conducted. Since this matter involves a District employee and is a personnel matter, there will be no further comment..."
School officials say the incident happened during a social studies lesson at the school.
No other details have been released.
