A new hair salon in Westport is making it their mission to comfort customers amid the pandemic.
Located on Post Road East, Salon Dada opened its doors in December after the pandemic delayed the opening for several months. The cofounders say the salon gets its name after the Dadism art movement after World War 1.
"It couldn't be more parallel at a time with what we're facing now and entering 2021," said cofounder Benjamin Lagasse. "We wanted a real feel-good place from front to end."
During a time when getting a haircut may be a rarity for some, Salon Dada says it's important to treat yourself.
"It's actually a form of therapy to get your hair done," said cofounder Steve Gemignani. "It's uplifting. Just to offer a little touch of luxury that we're missing these days is something we all need."
The large, open floor plan and socially distant chairs adhere to coronavirus safety measures.
"I think they do an excellent job being COVID safe and sanitizing," said Tanya Futoryan, a customer.
Salon Dada is operating at 40% capacity.
