A former Suffolk District Court judge pleaded guilty today to a charge he stole his ex-intern's dirty underwear.
Robert Cicale, who served as a District Court judge, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted burglary. Prosecutors say he admitted to breaking into his former intern's home and stealing the undergarments.
Investigators say it happened at the young woman's home on Donna Place in East Islip, which is the same block where the 50-year-old married father of three also lives.
"I am deeply and sincerely sorry for the trauma, for the fear, for the anger that I caused them," says Cicale. "They did nothing to deserve the suffering that they experienced as a direct result of my actions."
Cicale will be sentenced in November. He is expected to be sentenced to five years' probation and not serve any jail time.
Cicale will also lose his license to practice law.
