Former Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer reminded students Tuesday to start off the school day with a nutritious breakfast.
Toomer handed out grab-and-go meal packages to students at the Academy for College Preparation and Career Exploration.
The meal packages are a new option for breakfast at the school as part of the Breakfast After the Bell program.
The program encourages children to still eat breakfast if they don't make it to the cafeteria before school starts.
"If students come to school late, they miss the opportunity to have breakfast in the cafeteria," says Joan Mosely, the principal of the school. "This offers an alternative where students can still eat while they're having instruction."
The kiosk offers breakfast options like yogurt, cereal and milk.
Students say the new option makes it easier because they have time to eat without being stressed throughout the day.
