VALLEY STREAM - A film documenting World War II veterans' trip to the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. is set to debut next week.

The documentary "Honor Flight" follows a group of veterans who were flown down to the memorial with their families last year. One such veteran, Sal Perrone, of Valley Stream, said he was blown away by the memorial, which sits between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.

The film was originally to be screened in New York City alone, but will be shown locally thanks to lobbying efforts by Perrone's family.

The screening will take place on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Loews Theatre on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. Tickets can be ordered online or by calling 855-321-8844.
