Nassau and Suffolk remain under a high wind warning this evening as a ferocious spring storm batters Long Island with damaging winds and heavy rain.
The high wind warning continues through 8 p.m. A coastal flood advisory was also issued for parts of the Island.
News 12 meteorologists say scattered showers and the chance for thunderstorms are hanging around to start the evening, but will taper off as the storm pulls away tonight.
The winds will begin to diminish this evening as well. Earlier Monday, gusts as high as 68 mph were reported on Long Island.
Overnight hours will be partly cloudy with west northwest winds diminishing to 15 to 30 mph.
Conditions improve for Tuesday, which will be breezy and partly sunny with highs in the mid-50s.
