WOODBURY - To go green at the grocery store, you need to plan ahead.

Start by bringing any plastic bags in your home to recycle, and bring your own bags to pack your groceries. Some stores, like King Kullen, even offer money back for every bag you bring!

To shop green, look for signs in the produce department that say ‘grown locally.’ And try to eat organically to avoid ingesting pesticide residue left on fruits and vegetables. A good tip to remember when buying organic is if you’re eating the skin. For example, bananas are not a must-have organic fruit because you peel away the skin.

These tips and more are just a few simple and fast ways to keep your family and the planet healthy!
