SOUTHAMPTON - A little rain didn't dampen the start of the social season in the Hamptons this Memorial Day weekend. Stars were out on the East End, including actress Brooke Shields, celebrating her cover on Hamptons Magazine.

The Army Wives actress says she just bought a house in Southampton.  She says she used to come out to the East End as a child and wanted her children to experience it as well.  "We'd come out here a lot and [my husband and I] finally just looked at each other and said we need to start the memories and the history on our own, but in a familiar place," Shields says.

As for gracing the cover of Hamptons Magazine, Shields says it's always an honor. Shields celebrates her 48th birthday Friday.
