BABYLON - Volunteers braved bitterly cold temperatures today to help rebuild a Babylon home that was severely damaged by Superstorm Sandy.

The home on Tameling Avenue belongs to Gina Booner and her family. They never left their home after it flooded during the storm, and they've been struggling for the past 14 months.

The volunteers spent the whole day working on gutting the home's first floor, replacing the walls and running new electricity.

Several local groups came together to help, including Friends of Long Island, Friends of Freeport, Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Babylon and Vision Long Island.

Gina Booner says she's humbled to have the help. "I'm completely overwhelmed," she said. "I'm not used to receiving help, I'm used to giving, so this is quite remarkable for me."
