Only 32 homes have been repaired so far through the program

AMITYVILLE - Only 32 homes have been repaired so far through FEMA’s STEP program.

The program is designed to provide emergency repairs to Sandy-damaged homes to make them livable while more permanent repairs are made.

So far, the program has only made 25 repairs in Nassau County and seven in Suffolk County.

Officials are unsure how many homeowners have signed up for the program, which is still accepting applicants.

Officials confirm that the deadline to submit an application for the program is Dec. 18 and FEMA says all repairs must be made by Feb. 18.
