FIRE ISLAND - Local lawmakers are asking for more help fixing Long Island beaches after Sandy and to start preparations for future storms.

Officials say there is still urgent need for dune replenishment along the Fire Island's ocean beaches, which were seriously damaged by Sandy.

They are asking state and federal agencies to help create a coastal protection plan.
