ALBANY - New York is providing Long Island with more aid to help with Sandy recovery.

Newsday says the state is providing about $145 million to help Nassau and Suffolk counties. The money will go toward repair costs that were not covered by the federal government.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the money will prevent towns from having to borrow, raise taxes or dip into emergency funds to pay for repairs.
