FREEPORT - Business owners are rushing to get Freeport's Nautical Mile back up and running after Sandy devastated the strip.

Freeport Mayor Robert Kennedy says the town sustained tremendous damage during the October superstorm. Still, he says between 50 and 60 percent of Nautical Mile establishments have been restored, and the rest are under construction.

Kennedy says he's optimistic that many Nautical Mile restaurants will reopen for Memorial Day.
