UNIONDALE - The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) approved its 2013 budget today, as well as a refund of its daily service fee charged during widespread Sandy outages.

The utility approved the measure that will refund its 36-cent service fee for all customers for the two-week period following Hurricane Sandy.

The utility says the refund only comes out to about $5, but it is the right thing to do.

Customers should expect to see the refund on their January bills.
