Jones Beach boardwalk repairs under way

JONES BEACH STATE PARK - Crews are hard at work repairing the Jones Beach boardwalk in hopes of restoring it before the start of the season.

Gov. Cuomo announced this week that $20 million is being earmarked to repair the Jones Beach boardwalk.

New York State Parks Deputy Regional Director George Gorman says the Sandy-battered boardwalk should be fixed by Memorial Day.

According to Gorman, Department of Transportation crews are also working to repair the traffic circle, Ocean Parkway and the road near Orient Beach State Park. Facility buildings near Field 6 will get a face-lift, too.

Nikon at Jones Beach Theater is also expected to be repaired in time for the first concert of the season on May 31.
