WOODBURY - Long Islanders devastated by Superstorm Sandy have some extra time to apply for FEMA's STEP program.

The deadline to apply for the program has been extended to Jan. 18.

More than 14,000 residents have already signed up for the program, which provides basic repairs to damaged homes.

Nassau residents can call 888-684-4267.

Suffolk residents should dial 211.
