WOODBURY - The Federal Assistance Management Agency (FEMA) has extended its deadline for communities and towns to apply for federal assistance in recovery from Sandy.
 
Villages and towns on Long Island now have until Dec. 29 to apply for Public Assistance Grants from FEMA.
 
The original deadline was last Thursday.
