WOODBURY - Homeowners affected by Hurricane Sandy will now have more time to ask FEMA for aid.

The deadline for the federal STEP program has been extended to Jan. 18. 

The program provides basic repairs so Sandy victims can move back into their homes until full repairs are made. 

More than 14,000 people have already signed up for the program.
