WESTHAMPTON BEACH - East End communities say this summer’s tourism season is shaping up to be busier than usual.

Shopkeepers along Main Street in Westhampton Beach say Memorial Day weekend was a busy start to the summer season.

East End realtors say they're enjoying another strong summer rental market on the South Fork. They say they're seeing an influx of people from New Jersey and Westchester, likely in part because of the havoc Superstorm Sandy wreaked on the Jersey Shore.

For the most part, Long Island's East End escaped major Sandy damage.

Area business owners say they just hope the busy Memorial Day weekend was a small taste of what's to come all summer.
