MANHATTAN - New York Fashion Week is in full swing. News 12’s Elisa DiStefano teamed up with Newsday style writer Anne Bratskeir to bring you the latest trends from the runway, including some from Huntington native designer Mathieu Mirano.

You might be ready for spring, but fashion designers have been working hard on their fall lines. This year, Bratskeir says luscious big coats are the IT thing next season. She says there's also a lot of fur – both faux and real – as well as vests. And don’t forget the capes, she adds. “A lot of things to keep us warm,” says Bratskier.

Pant suits and asymmetrical hemlines are also big-ticket items on the runway. As far as color, wine is all the rage.

As for Mirano’s line, he says the mood for his collection is hardcore. “Really taking the idea of sexuality and mixing it with tradition,” says Mirano. “I was looking at motorcycle gangs and I wanted to mix it with the Crown Jewels and the royal family.”

Mirano debuted his fifth collection at Fashion Week this year. The 22-year-old grew up in Huntington and Greenlawn. He adds that when creating his lines, he does use a little hometown influence.
