MANHATTAN - Fall fashions and their designers descended upon Manhattan this week, and News 12’s Elisa DiStefano, along with Newsday’s Anne Bratskeir, went behind the scenes at Fashion Week.

When models and designers aren’t hitting the runway or watching the show, they head backstage in the tents. This year, the tents were at Lincoln Center. In the VIP lounge, there is no work, only relaxing as everyone either unwinds or prepares for a show. Also, those in the VIP lounge do get a view of the fashion world.

However, DiStefano and Bratskeir agree that one of the best things about being backstage is getting an eyeful of the fashions! This season, Bratskier says on the runway it’s all about the ‘tough chick’ look. She adds there’s a lot of blacks and neutral colors on the models.

Despite the darker colors, some designers brightened things up. Michael Kors’ collection includes some cranberry, orange and red colors. Animal prints will also be popular for the fall season, Bratskier says.

The one downfall to Fashion Week is everyone has to wait until the fall months before the clothes hit the stores.
