SETAUKET - Have your kids get hands-on and creative by experiencing life on a farm right here on Long Island. News 12’s Elizabeth Hashagen got her hands dirty at Benner’s Farm in Setauket.
From picking fruits and vegetables in the garden to working with the animals, children of all ages can experience farm life at Benner’s.
“They’re able to get into the pens with the animals and pet them; hold the babies,” says Bob Benner. “And aid in milking and things like that … work in the garden; do some chores. It’s a nice combination.”
In addition to getting down and dirty, there is time for arts and crafts and even a fun tractor ride and big swing to play on.
But no matter how fun the farm is, Benner stresses its importance to teach the children about farm life, caring for animals and fresh produce.
