MASSAPEQUA - It’s summer time and what better way to spend your days, but outside along the shores of Long Island. News 12 Long Island’s Carol Silva goes searching for a waterfront hideaway to relax with some good eats.

Smuggler Jack’s is a hidden gem tucked back on a Massapequa canal. Massapequa resident Tony Manoghin says Smuggler Jack’s has beautiful water views and is very quaint. Others say it has a laid-back, quiet, family oriented atmosphere.

Owner Noel Cannon says their grand opening a few years ago was set back by 10 months due to Hurricane Sandy. “Everything we had in the building was destroyed and put back again,” says Cannon.

In the kitchen, they offer house specials from seafood to steaks and chops. And at the bar, you can cool down with some drinks, including the special Hurricane Sandy. But of course, many agree that the best special isn’t on the menu – it’s in the sea air and the water and the view.
