The widow of a Montrose man killed last year says she wants her husband to be remembered as the family oriented man he was.
Vanessa Conkling lost her husband Timothy after he got shot in the head while on the job in Yonkers on March 1, 2018.
Timothy, 36, was a father of two daughters when Heriberto Morales shot him from the window of his apartment on Ashburton Avenue.
His death came just days before his daughter Kylie's 17th birthday, who now wears a necklace with her father’s ashes every day.
His second daughter Aslynn, 16, says the death of her father has made getting up each morning very difficult.
Morales pleaded guilty to murder charges in April. Last week, a judge sentenced him 19 years to life in prison.
The Conkling family says that even though their pain is still hard to bear, they want to do everything they can to keep Timothy Conkling’s memory alive.
