A Connecticut teen received big surprise Sunday when a local nonprofit group showed up with a special gift.
Cristal Ortiz, 15, who has cerebral palsy, received a low-mileage, wheelchair-accessible van. The gift was made possible by Joe Kaliko at the Needs Clearing House, along with Ride for Kids and the Robert Morris Family Trust.
Ortiz is the 24th News 12 Connecticut viewer to receive a wheelchair-accessible van.
Her mom says it will make life for the family a lot easier.
"I don't have to depend on anybody to get her in and out now, " she said.
The family thanked Mobility Group of Greenwich for helping to make the gift possible.
