After losing their son in a car accident, a Dix Hills family has launched a new awareness program to help make teenagers safer drivers.

The Chowdhury family lost their 18-year-old son, Aram, in a 1994 crash. He was in the car with a friend driving 100 mph when they hit a utility pole and flipped over.

Now the family has partnered with Good Samaritan Hospital to teach teenagers about the dangers of distracted and reckless driving. The program will provide lectures to communities across Long Island and put teens in a computerized drunk driving simulator.

The Chowdhury?s say they hope to provide life-saving lessons in memory of their son. The program is free to both students and parents.
