Every August, kids head to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete in the Little League World Series. But this year, one Fairfield teen won't be on the field -- but behind the microphone.
Aiden Blanc is a former Fairfield American Little League player, but he's always had dreams of calling games on network TV. Now, he's getting that chance while still in high school.
ESPN will air a special telecast of a game from the Little League World Series on Aug. 21. It will feature commentary and sideline reporting from Blanc and three other aspiring teenage broadcasters.
"I think my dad and I were kind of speechless and it was a pretty surreal moment," Blanc said. "I mean, I'm going to get to be on ESPN in front of millions of people. It's going to be incredible."
The 16-year-old says his love of sports came at an early age.
In 2011, Blanc, then 8 years old, made his first attempt at broadcasting by bringing a voice recorder to Bridgeport Bluefish games. News 12's profile on him helped Blanc get a following and start on a prospective career.

Since then, he's made a lot of connections in the business, including at the Bruce Beck Sports Broadcasting Camp last month.
It was his time there that got him recruited for the ESPN gig in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The game will air on ESPN2 Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
