Yonkers police say two people remain in serious condition after a correction officer opened fire Friday on an ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend before killing himself.
Police have left the scene on Buckingham Road, but the investigation continues into the horrific attempted murder-suicide involving three Westchester Department of Correction officers.
Officials say 40-year-old Edward Quinoy, of Tarrytown, forced himself into a home Friday night where his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend lived.
Quinoy allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend and the male victim multiple times, and he was shot multiple times. He then killed himself, police say.
The two victims remain hospitalized in serious condition.
News 12 talked to a woman who says she is also an ex-girlfriend of Quinoy. She didn't want to be identified, but says she was in an abusive relationship with him for four years
"I've gotten my chest cavity broken in, he's choked me an inch from my life on Thanksgiving no less, and woken my 2-year-old up and said, ‘Look at mom, look at her getting ready to die,’” she says.
She says Quinoy and the victim worked together at the penitentiary in Valhalla. She says she tried to warn the victim about Quinoy, telling her, “I just want you to know you should watch your back because he's not who he says he is.”
She says Quinoy was especially violent after drinking.
"My heart goes out to all the victims including him. He had a sincere mental illness. I can't put into words how sorry I am,” she says.
