WESTBURY - Comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” star Martin Short took the stage at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury Saturday night and News 12’s own Elisa DiStefano joined him for part of the show!
With a rehearsal earlier in the day, DiStefano met up with Short and his staff to learn her part. Her role, bring him a glass of champagne toward the end of the show. After some small talk and a walk through of the show, everyone prepared for the night.
The show started with a montage of the various characters Short has portrayed over his career. After some stand up and a couple of songs, Short brought up three audience members to perform the “Three Amigos” skit. He followed that up with the Martin Short Bagpipes bit and a few more songs. Then out came Ed Grimley and eventually Jiminy Glick. Short brought up Long Island Cares’ Paule Pachter to be interviewed during the Glick sketch.
After another song or two, it was time for DiStefano to make her on-stage appearance, as she brought out the champagne to Short. A few more jokes, and Short ended the night a bit early, as he was on his way to make an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” that night with Justin Timberlake.
