HOLLYWOOD - Stars filled the red carpet early at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the 85th annual Academy Awards ceremony. It’s considered the biggest night for film stars and wraps up the awards season.

This year’s host was Seth MacFarlane. One of the highlights of the night was the tribute to musicals, stars such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman performed songs from the musical films they starred in, including "Dream Girls," "Chicago" and "Les Miserables."

"Argo" took home the big award of the night for Best Picture. It was up against “Amour,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Django Unchained,” “Les Miserables,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal in "Lincoln." He was up against Bradley Cooper, Hugh Jackman, Joaquin Phoenix and Denzel Washington.

Jennifer Lawrence beat out Jessica Chastain, Emmanuelle Riva, Quvenzhane Wallis and Naomi Watts for Best Actress for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook."

Other big winners included Anne Hathaway for Best Supporting Actress and Christoph Waltz for Best Supporting Actor. The Best Director award went to Ang Lee for "Life of Pi."
